Keystone was founded by men who attend Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, Maryland, and some Keystone gatherings may take place at various churches or venues. However, Keystone is not affiliated with any specific church or denomination. We exist as an independent men’s fellowship focused on community, discipleship, and growth rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

No. You do not need to be a Christian to attend a Keystone event or participate in the community. Keystone is built on the belief that Jesus met people where they were, long before they believed or understood everything about Him (Luke 5:31–32). We welcome men who are curious, questioning, skeptical, or simply searching for something more. Faith is never forced—our hope is simply to create space for honest conversation, authentic relationships, and the opportunity to encounter Christ in a real and meaningful way.

Yes. Keystone is committed to being a safe, respectful, and trustworthy community. What is shared within the fellowship stays within the fellowship. We believe that growth happens when men feel secure enough to speak honestly about their struggles, doubts, victories, and faith. Confidentiality is essential to building trust, fostering vulnerability, and creating the kind of brotherhood where men can truly support one another without fear of judgment or exposure.

Keystone gatherings are simple and intentional. They typically include time to connect with other men, a short teaching or discussion centered on faith and real-life challenges, open conversation, and concluding in prayer. There’s no pressure to speak or share beyond your comfort level—men are free to listen, engage, and participate at their own pace.

Keystone is a community, not a contract. There are no long-term commitments or attendance requirements. Men are encouraged to come as they are, participate as they are able, and remain involved for as long as the fellowship is helpful and life-giving.

Keystone focuses on the real challenges men face—faith, family, marriage, fatherhood, work, leadership, discipline, temptation, and purpose—through the lens of Christ. Conversations are practical, honest, and rooted in Scripture, while remaining relevant to everyday life. We conclude with prayer making sure to include any prayer requests from our community.

At some Keystone gatherings—whether hosted in a member’s home or at an outside venue—the host may provide light appetizers along with both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverage options. Men are welcome to bring a drink they are comfortable with, and participation is always optional. At certain events, cigars may also be present. These gatherings are intended to be enjoyed responsibly and respectfully, with the focus on fellowship, conversation, and community—not on partying or excess. Keystone encourages moderation, personal conviction, and consideration for others in all settings.
